Sofia Goggia aims for immediate redemption after missing medal at Worlds
After the disappointment of the World Championships in Courchevel/Méribel, Sofia Goggia is on the hunt for redemption in Crans Montana, Switzerland, where she could put a serious mortgage or even mathematically win the Downhill Cup, her fourth in her career.
Three downhill races remain between now and the end of the World Cup, and Sofia Goggia is currently clearly leading the specialty standings ahead of Slovakia’s Stuhec and the other Italian Elena Curtoni. The Bergamo native has also been the only one to win four times this season, and she has a positive tradition in Crans Montana: three times she has won in the Swiss resort.
Sofia Goggia will capture the downhill cup if she wins the race on Saturday and Stuhec finishes outside the top 23.
