Superbike, Alvaro Bautista wins race-1 in Australia: fourth Locatelli

Good debut for Danilo Petrucci, eighth at the finish line

In a race, the first of World Superbike, conditioned by the wet track, Alvaro Bautista triumphed at Phillip Island, Australia, making race-1 his own. The Spaniard won solo, preceding at the finish line Jonathan Rea, on a Kawasaki, who finished second at 3.471 after complaining of an electronic gearbox problem. For Bautista this was his 33rd Superbike victory, his fifth at the Australian track.

Third was Turkish Toprak Razgatlioglu on a Yamaha, who finished more than six seconds behind the Ducatista after a lackluster start from the first grid position. Fourth was Andrea Locatelli and eighth was Danilo Petrucci, making his overall debut in the category.
