Sofia Goggia in the frost
Sofia Goggia in the frost
It’s a given: professional skiers need to go to cold locations to train. Even freezing cold. That’s the case for Sofia Goggia: the skier from Bergamo posted an Instagram story in which she wrote, “It’s -17 degrees here.”
Goggia is located near Waldshut-Tiengen, in the southwestern part of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, on the border with Switzerland. She chose Lucio Battisti’s song ‘La collina dei ciliegi’ as the background to the video. This is not the first time the skier has chosen the singer-songwriter from Poggio Bustone for her videos.
Sofia Goggia, class of 1992, was born in Bergamo and has a personal bulletin board capable of making anyone envious. Indeed, she was a gold medalist in the downhill in the 2018 edition of the Olympics staged in Pyeongchang, South Korea, but she can also boast four downhill World Cups and two medals won at the World Championships: a bronze in the giant slalom in Sankt Moritz in 2017 and a silver, in the super-giant, in Are, Sweden, two years later. Her best finish in the overall World Cup standings is the third place she recorded in 2017.
