Elena Curtoni expresses all her disappointment
Great bitterness for Elena Curtoni
The smile of Federica Brignone, who took a brilliant second place in the Super-G in Soldeu behind Lara Gut-Behrami, is contrasted by the bitterness of Elena Curtoni, who, finishing the race in tenth place, not only failed to maintain the Cup specialty record (won by Gut-Behrami herself) but even slipped off the podium, also bypassed by Brignone herself and Ragnhild Mowinckel.
“I knew I was skiing well but the approach to the race was not positive,” the 32-year-old Italian told official Fisi channels, “after the fall in the downhill. Maybe I tripped up my foot in some passages without realizing it, because falling downhill is never good. It’s not an excuse because I was on track, ready. I knew I could do well, as I have done all season, even though I knew it would be difficult.”
“You had to win the race and Gut-Behrami did it,” she added. “That’s okay, although of course I’m very sorry: I was really looking forward to it, as well as to the specialty podium. This season I’ve shown that I can be in front all the time, in two disciplines, so I’m proud of the work I’ve done and that I’m still going to do.”
