Olimpia Milano knocked out, but Ettore Messina praises his team: ‘Winning mentality’
The string of cup victories ends, but the general mood does not abate.
Olimpia Milano defeated in the Euroleague, after six consecutive victories, but the 91-87 suffered by Real Madrid does not make Ettore Messina bow his head. In fact, the coach of the Milanese lineup praised at the end of the game the performance of his team, which remained in the game until the very last seconds and tasted the flavor of a new continental feat.
“We congratulate Real Madrid,” Messina commented, “They won a very balanced game, some really small details were decisive. We played a good game, but to win we needed a very good one. The most important thing is that we are always improving. We will then see where we will be at the end.”
Messina then turned to his Olimpia Milano’s season-long journey in the Euroleague. “In the first part of the season we had to face several problems,” he admitted. “Now we are certainly growing, but it is not the case to give in to illusions. To enter the playoffs we should win them all, but the most important thing is that once again we played well. This group has a winning mentality. Now let’s focus on the championship, and the important challenge we will have on Sunday.”
