Ganna surrenders to an incredible Van der Poel in the Milan-San Remo

Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won the 114th Milano-Sanremo presented by Crédit Agricole, the first Monumental Classic of the season. After attacking along the Poggio climb, the Dutch rider won by a breakaway at the finish line in Via Roma. Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) and Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) completed the Classicissima podium.

Mathieu Van der Poel, immediately after the finish, said, “A special victory in a special race, a finish on which everyone wants to triumph. I was not hiding at Tirreno-Adriatico, I was not on the same level as the others. With the team we trained well during the week and today my teammates did an excellent job. We will properly celebrate this splendid result.”
