Malta-Italy, the probable formations
A small revolution from what we saw in Naples.
Malta-Italy will already represent an important test for Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri on their way to Euro 2024, after Thursday’s match in Naples lost to England. Precisely for this reason in the second match of the qualifiers for the upcoming European Championships there will be several changes made by the coach in the starting eleven.
Confirmed Retegui in the center of the attack, Mancini should opt for Gnonto and Politano on his flanks. The two, who took over against England, did better than the starters in Naples: Berardi and Pellegrini. There are also two changes in defense for Italy, with Romagnoli in the center instead of Toloi and Spinazzola making way for Emerson Palmieri on the left. In midfield there should be Tonali and Cristante along with the confirmed Verratti.
The match will kick off at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 26.
Likely lineups.
Malta (3-4-3): Bonello; Apap, Borg, Attard; J. Mbong, Guillaumier, Kristensen, Camenzuli; Teuma, Satariano, P. Mbong. CT: Marcolini.
Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Romagnoli, Acerbi, Emerson Palmieri; Verratti, Cristante, Tonali; Politano, Retegui, Gnonto. CT: Mancini.
