MotoGP, Fabio Quartararo is bitter: “We can not fight”
The bitter admission of falling behind the competition comes after only one race.
Fabio Quartararo finished eighth in the Portuguese Grand Prix, the first round of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship. The Frenchman’s Yamaha was the first Japanese bike to finish the race dominated by Pecco Bagnaia, but the 2021 world champion’s mood remains decidedly bad.
“My pace was not that bad, I thought, however, that I would go much faster. And even though we drove to the limit, at the performance level we lag behind the others,” Quartararo told the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’. We don’t lack speed, but we have problems on everything else and this prevents us from fighting with the others.”
“We have a hard time overtaking, so it would have been crucial to start on the front row. Then we could have played for the podium or at least a position in the top five. To do that, however, we need to improve on the dry lap, because in the current state it is always difficult to battle with others. And this aspect worries us a lot,” Quartararo added.
