Roma nervous, Nicolò Zaniolo spills the beans on his goodbye
The former Roma player has not ruled out his return to Italy
In a lengthy interview granted to Gazzetta dello Sport, Zaniolo, currently with Galatasaray, returned to his traumatic farewell to Roma. The former Giallorossi player was quite clear on the matter: “They told me I was a spearhead, instead I was always considered just a capital gain. For two years I was told that the new contract was ready. In January last year I was going to sign for little more than what I was earning, because I was doing well at Roma and I knew there were problems with Financial Fair Play. After so much talk I got fed up. If I have to reflect on my farewell, I think others have to do so as well,” his words.
Zaniolo said he was very disappointed with the attitude of many Giallorossi teammates (“I was disappointed with almost everyone. I’m not naming names, but they said we were like brothers and then they didn’t even say hello to me”) and, on his future, he did not mince words: “It is obvious that I cannot guarantee that I will stay in Turkey five years, but as long as I am here I will always give my best.” In short, in the summer he might consider returning to play in Italy, obviously not at Roma.
