Jannik Sinner, what a comeback in Miami! Beats Carlos Alcaraz and goes to the final
Jannik Sinner in Miami final
Sweet, sweet revenge for Jannik Sinner on the Italian night between Friday and Saturday: in fact, the South Tyrolean defeated 6(4)-7, 6-4, 6-2 ATP No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, earning him access to the final of the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami.
Sinner, who against Alcaraz had lost the only one of the previous nine matches played between Indian Wells and Miami (it was against Alcaraz, in the final in California), immediately started well, taking a 4-1 lead in the first set, before suffering the overbearing comeback of the Murcian, capable of taking the set, and then winning it, to the tie-break.
Alcaraz tries to take advantage of the positive momentum in the second set as well, immediately going ahead by a break, but from 4-3 for the Spaniard Sinner turns the light back on and first wins three consecutive games to even the set count, then flies unchallenged in the decisive fraction, leaving only two games to his rival.
At Masters 1000 level, therefore, it will be the second consecutive final for Sinner: contending for the Miami Open trophy will be Daniil Medvedev, who ruled in the semifinals over Karen Khachanov 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3.
