F1, Alain Prost disappointed with Ferrari’s start
The words of Alain Prost
Alain Prost took stock in L’Equipe after the first Grands Prix of the season: “It’s a strange start, everywhere you look you can see that things are not going well and that, in a sense, it’s already a crisis at all levels, both for the top teams and the smaller ones. There are, of course, the historic teams that are suffering, such as McLaren, which is not only not rebuilding but, year after year, is plummeting. There is Alpine, whose recovery is still slow. There is Mercedes, which persists in its innovative concept, but which is obviously not working. Ferrari, deciding instead to bring in new blood and new personnel, foreign ones at that, today does not have the results we would have liked to see.”
Chapter Red Bull: “Its system of favoring a single driver, Max Verstappen, which has worked so well, is showing the first signs of breaking down,” the 68-year-old added. “Sergio Perez, now established in the team, is discovering that he can win and is no longer willing to compromise to stay. Even if Red Bull’s dominance continues, the next few weeks will be crucial for the reigning world champions. It is clear that anything can quickly get in the way and that, even at the top, a crisis is never far away.”
