Virtus Bologna knockout with Napoli, Scariolo: “We apologize, me first responsible”
After the home knockout, an apology comes.
Virtus Bologna defeated at home by Napoli, which on the court of the leader collects two crucial points for the salvation race. After the 81-89 loss to the Campani, however, Sergio Scariolo decided to use very harsh words and even apologize to the Bologna public.
“I want to apologize to the fans and the club on a personal basis, but also on behalf of the team,” Scariolo said in a press conference. “We did not play a game up to what is rightly expected of us. We tried, but we were uneven, inaccurate in our shooting. From the mental point of view, even before the physical, we have very little energy.”
“With personal initiatives it is not possible to win games. Now in view of the playoffs we have to reset ourselves, after a very hard season of which we feel the weight. When you are in trouble you immediately lose your defense and sense of community. If it happened the first person responsible is me, but now we have to recover everything,” Scariolo concluded.
