F1, Ferrari: Fia does not change its mind on Carlos Sainz
Bad news for Ferrari: the Fia, after reviewing the case, has decided to reject the Scuderia’s appeal regarding the penalty imposed on Carlos Sainz in the Australian Grand Prix. The Spanish driver crossed the finish line in fourth place but the 5-second penalty relegated him to 12th position.
“There is no significant and relevant new element that was not available to the parties requesting review at the time of this decision. The Application should therefore be dismissed,” reads the lengthy statement from Fia.
Immediately after the race Sainz had harshly criticized the federation’s decision, “Don’t let me speak now because I would just say very bad things to the stewards in the heat of the moment and that’s not what I want. all I can say is that the feeling is that we were robbed today.”
