Will Max Verstappen join Michael Schumacher? Alonso has no doubts
A period full of satisfaction, however, that could soon turn into an era: the word of fellow outlier.
Max Verstappen could win several world titles, adding to the two he has already put in his trophy cabinet. To be sure of this is someone who has already opposed drivers on the track who have marked their era: he is Fernando Alonso.
The Spaniard of Aston Martin became world champion in 2005 and 2006, but over the course of his long career he has challenged seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, that Lewis Hamilton who over time has caught up with the Kaiser, and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Well, in an interview with ‘L’Equipe’ Alonso explained that Verstappen has all the tools to catch up with these three holy monsters.
“He could get to win five, six, even seven titles,” Alonso in fact said about Verstappen. “Max is very good and, like me, he comes from a small country where there is little Formula 1 culture. In my time Spain turned blue, now we see orange everywhere. Plus he is painted as aggressive and politically incorrect. The same thing happened to me, although I don’t understand why.”
