Superbike, Bautista triumphs at Assen despite penalty

Ducati’s Alvaro Bautista won race-1 of the Dutch round of the World Superbike Championship. The Spanish centaur, who consolidates his leadership in the championship standings, had taken Superpole in the morning at Assen but was penalized for disturbing the qualifying lap of two riders, thus finishing fourth on the grid.

In the race Bautista took the lead in any case towards the middle of the race, overtaking first Razgatlioglu (who would finish third) and then Rea, flying inexorably to his umpteenth victory that allows him to stretch to +46 in the standings over the second. Fourth position for Locatelli ahead of Bassani, Danilo Petrucci finished ninth.
