F1, Ferrari: Carlos Sainz can’t find the feeling in Baku
Carlos Sainz finished fourth in qualifying in Baku. However, a result that does not satisfy the Spanish driver, who is eight tenths behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who took pole position.
“You probably couldn’t see it from the outside, but I wasn’t 100 percent, I struggled right from free practice with the car,” Sainz admitted to Sky Sports microphones. “I lacked confidence, as soon as I got some I would make a mistake that would push me back. I also paid for not having a new set in Q3, but that’s my fault. I wasn’t fast, I didn’t expect it. I had used three sets of tires, Charles had used two: I was not in the same condition as the top guys, but it’s my responsibility to have used one more set earlier. I have to look for a reason, it’s a shame to be in a closed park regime and not be able to modify the car. I will work to be faster as early as tomorrow.”
