F1, Carlos Sainz: “I didn’t want to hit Leclerc.”
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz commented on his fifth-place finish in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, starting with the overtaking suffered in the race by Fernando Alonso: “In the overtaking suffered by Alonso I didn’t want to hit Charles: I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose the load and I had to break away a little earlier. In any case Fernando overtook me well, he was good there. Yesterday I did a good defense, and today he did well, these are the races.”
Sainz holds on to his fifth place, considering all the difficulties he faced over the weekend, “I don’t think the final result would have changed if I had stayed in front, because you could see that Fernando had more pace than me.”
