A defeat that matured in the finale, and brought with it much controversy.

Virtus Bologna defeated in Treviso, where the hosts imposed themselves with the score of 89-88 suffering the decisive overtaking in the final seconds of the fourth period. And the coach of the Emilians, Sergio Scariolo, put referee Paternicò in his sights for the decision on the Banks-Shengelia contact that proved decisive for the outcome.

“I want to congratulate Treviso for the game and for the salvation,” Scariolo said, as read on ‘BolognaBasket.org.’ “Paternicò is a very good referee, but this time he made a very serious mistake. Shengelia was in a defensive position, while Banks fouled on offense. From this point of view, the images are very clear.”

“This is a mistake that weighs heavily, decided first place and fight for relegation. And at this level we should have peace of mind that mistakes like this do not happen,” Scariolo concluded.
