Fabio Quartararo relives Valentino Rossi’s nightmare
Fabio Quartararo cannot hold back his anger after yet another disappointing Grand Prix: also in Jerez de La Frontera the vice world champion, on a track that last season had seen him finish second, struggled finishing only tenth. “For me, in the race we are almost a second slower than what we can do. In the morning, 1’37″1, in low temperature, can be okay. But today our pace was 1’38″0, 1’38” high, we are one second slower. We couldn’t get any good laps. As soon as I pass someone and have some gap, I can ride better, but then another rider catches me. That’s the problem.”
A discontent reminiscent of Valentino Rossi’s last stint with the Japanese team, “Testing on Monday? I think tomorrow we will have to try a new chassis, I know very well that it will not be a big change. Maybe the wings, but even if it goes well, I think it will take time for the Japanese engineers to look at it and analyze it. There is an exhaust that we have to try, but given the way I ride I don’t think I can use it, because having rather big feet and walking very much on tiptoe, I think my foot would touch the exhaust.”
Few positive feelings for Le Mans: “I can’t think positive, I’m riding well, but there are situations I can’t control.”
