Jannik Sinner, clear words on rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner on Carlos Alcaraz: “We are friends off the field.”

Jannik Sinner, host of the program “Storie Italiane” on Rai1, spoke among other things about his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, limiting its boundaries to the pure sports aspect.

“In the match each of us tries to do our best,” said the South Tyrolean tennis player, “we try to express ourselves in the best possible way. Off the court, where the ‘battle’ ends, we are friends, we are also normal people. I think he has an extra step, because he has won more and is seeing more things, but I’m definitely trying to catch up with him, with my time because he has been very fast, but I’m happy with where I am and I’m not stopping here.”

It’s not certain that the two won’t find themselves against each other at the Internazionali d’Italia, a tournament that Sinner feels particularly strongly about: “Here in Rome of course it’s always very special, I care about it very much, as I think all Italians do. We have the honor of playing it once a year, I’m happy to be here again.”
