Valentino Rossi explains all about his new big goal
On the sidelines of the Brands Hatch round of GTWCE, Valentino Rossi spoke about his next big commitment to the Le Mans Cup, scheduled for a month from now at the French track.
“Taking part in the Road To Le Mans is a great opportunity because it is the only event that uses the same track design as the 24 Hours, as well as Michelin tires that are very different. I’m so excited to do it and I’m looking forward to going there.”
“I will also stop by the 24 Hours, I have never seen it live, only on TV, so I would like to see what the atmosphere is like. There’s always a lot of people and it’s beautiful, then we’ll see how our race will go. I am curious to see what our performance will be, I will train in the simulator and I am curious.”
The goal is to run the 24 Hours in 2024: “It is the most famous race in the world and the goal is to do it, we will try next year with a GT. However, I still don’t know the 2024 schedule. My idea is to run the biggest endurance races, like Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps, Bathurst and also on the Nordschleife.”
“For the time being I will definitely do them with a GT, in the meantime I will have a chance to test the LMDh. I hope to do it as soon as possible during this season, we will try to arrange a couple of test days with BMW, but at the moment I don’t know where or when. Maybe in September or October, also because WRT will have to take the car and start preparing for 2024 in the FIA WEC,” are the words reported by Motorsport.
“Whether I can race in a championship with LMDh will depend a lot on my performance and whether I will be able to be fast enough, which is very important. I hope so, but anyway at the moment I really like GT and I want to continue to compare myself with the best drivers in this category. Then we’ll see.”
