Nicola Pietrangeli disappointed with Jannik Sinner

During an interview with the microphones of “LaPresse,” Nicola Pietrangeli commented on the premature elimination by Italian players at the Rome Internationals. “There is disappointment because they had ended up in a favorable part of the scoreboard. One could have expected Musetti’s defeat at the hands of Tsitsipas, but not Sinner’s. But playing so much can be a factor. I believe Jannik will finish in the top six in the world at the end of the year. In Rome, he felt the pressure of playing at home, but he is 21 years old, it is normal not to be ready to hold that weight yet,” said the former tennis player.

Later, Pietrangeli also wanted to dwell on the potential of players such as Alcaraz and Rune: “It’s not like there are phenomena around yet, Alcaraz himself has shown that he is human and makes some mistakes. As for Holger, on the other hand, I think his kind of attitude doesn’t appeal to anyone, but you can’t criticize him for that, because it’s his way of playing and empowering himself. Both he and Carlos are still kids so they have plenty of time to grow and mature,” added Nicola Pietrangeli.
