Psg, Galtier defends Verratti and shocks Donnarumma
Paris Saint Germain coach Christophe Galtier on the eve of the league match against Auxerre addressed the situation of the two Italian players in the squad, Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The former Milan goalkeeper from Campania has often been criticized by fans and insiders: “Gigio is above all a great professional and is improving in reading the game. I see him more decisive in reading trajectories. He is a great asset, he occupies a lot of space, has great reflexes and makes decisive saves. He is starting to direct his defense but he needs to be even more aggressive.”
“He cannot admit, when we are leading 3-0, to conceding goals, he needs to be more demanding with himself, but also with his teammates, to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.”
Verratti has been even more criticized in recent months: “When he is not there you can see it and feel it in the game. Like the whole team, he had a slump at some point. The slump coincided with the absence of many starters, but I find the criticism of him quite harsh compared to what he does on the field.”
