MotoGp, overcome the crisis post Valentino Rossi: the announcement
MotoGp ratings are back on the rise after the introduction of sprint races. The new format, introduced by Dorna to shake up a championship orphaned by personalities such as those of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez (back only at Le Mans), finally seems to be working. After the first Grand Prix, ratings were up 27 percent, dragged by Saturday’s perfomance, which, thanks to the Sprint Races, had a 51 percent increase in ratings.
“Sunday’s Grand Prix race ratings were up by nearly a fifth in all key markets, demonstrating that the new Sprint-related format not only garnered a respectable audience on Saturday, but also lifted interest and viewership for MotoGP in general,” is the note released by MotoGp.
Thus Dorna Sports Chief Commercial Officer Dan Rossomondo: “We are very pleased to be able to release these growing audience figures for the first part of the season. The new format of the weekend and the introduction of the Sprint were designed to provide a better show in many respects and these results are encouraging, a good foundation on which to continue building.”
