F1, Ferrari: Carlos Sainz makes mea culpa for FP2 crash
Carlos Sainz admits error
The day of Carlos Sainz, first in FP1 and third in FP2, was marred by the Spaniard’s accident, at the height of the Piscine section, right at the end of the second free practice session: the contact with the guard rail caused the breakage of a right front suspension arm, on which the mechanics will still be able to intervene in terms of the regulations.
“Of course, it was not ideal to close the second session like that,” Sainz explained in the mixed zone. “I made a small error of judgment, looking for the limit. I apologize to the mechanics for the extra work they will have to do.”
“In general, however, the day was positive, in both sessions we were fast and the car behaved well. At the set-up level there are still things I want to try, but I am optimistic about what we can achieve already in qualifying,” concluded the Ferrari driver.
