The words of Gerhard Berger

Gerhard Berger ventured a comparison with the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung: “The 1988 season reminds me a little of this year. I was like Alonso often at the top waiting for something to happen.”

The former Ferrarista also stated that it is possible for Red Bull to keep up with McLaren in 1988 when they won more than 95 percent of the races they ran: “There are a lot more races than in the past, but at the level of performance yes, Red Bull can chase that McLaren record.”

It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
