Former Brindisi hypothesis for Olimpia Milano.
Darius Thompson target of Olimpia Milano
Olimpia Milano is engaged in the Scudetto playoffs but the management of the meneghina club is already working to renew the roster at coach Ettore Messina’s disposal ahead of next season. According to reports from the Basque portal ‘El Correo,’ Olimpia would be particularly interested in Darius Thompson, a 1995 class guard.
Thompson is very familiar with the Italian league having played for two seasons in Brindisi, from 2019 to 2021, continuing his career first at Lokomotiv Kuban and then at Baskonia, where he performed well in the Euroleague in the season just ended so much so that he earned a nomination in the ‘Second Best Team’ of the continental competition.
The Murfreesboro, Tennessee, native basketball player has dual citizenship, U.S. and Italian (the latter acquired by marriage), and would be ready to return to his wife’s country. A non-secondary aspect, by the way, also from a national perspective: Thompson himself had declared in recent weeks that he would not say no to a possible call-up for the 2023 World Cup by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco.
