Peracchini’s protest

“The choice of Udine’s Dacia Arena to play the play-off between Spezia and Verona is an offense to La Spezia fans and a lack of respect for the city and our province.” Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini comments through a note on the Lega Serie A’s decision to play the play-off for permanence in the top flight between Spezia and Verona at the Dacia Arena in Udine.

“These matches are worth the history of a club and a territory and the choice of the field must be taken carefully and result in a neutral territory for everyone,” added the first citizen of the Ligurian resort. The route poses problems of security and public order because there is an obvious risk that the two fans may meet on the way, and relations between fans must be considered. We ask the Serie A League to review this decision and find a solution that guarantees fairness and impartiality.”
