Casper Ruud beats Holger Rune and flies to semifinals

A year later, Casper Ruud again beats Holger Rune in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros and does so with a score of 6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3 after nearly three hours of play.

Match never in dispute in the first two sets with Ruud commanding the game and Rune always forced to chase. In the third set came the reaction of the Dane who managed for the first time to take the lead in the score, and thanks to the break obtained in the second game, extended the match to the fourth set. Here, however, the Norwegian recomposes himself, scratches the break in the fourth game and keeps it until the final 6-3, won on the fifth match point.

Ruud thus advances to the semifinals where he will meet Alexander Zverev, while Rune must say goodbye to Roland Garros.

What is now being staged is the 122nd edition of the French Open, one of the four tournaments that are part of the Grand Slam, the second in order of time after the Australian Open, which in 2023 was won by Serbia’s Novak Djokovic among the men and Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka among the women.
