Paolo Bertolucci lapidary on Matteo Berrettini
Former tennis player Paolo Bertolucci did not mince words after Matteo Berrettini’s first-round defeat in the ATP 250 Stuttgart, of which he was defending champion. The Roman tennis player was beaten in two sets by his compatriot and friend Lorenzo Sonego (1-6 2-6) in just over an hour of play, leaving the court in tears. The defeat of the number two Italian tennis player did not surprise Bertolucci, who commented on his Twitter profile, “But did anyone really think Matteo Berrettini after the long absence was able to play against Lorenzo Sonego?”
Matteo Berrettini will return to the court as early as next week at Queen’s, where he will equally defend his victory, achieved last year in the final over Filip Krajinovic.
