Ducati chief technician Cristian Gabarrini was impressed with Pecco Bagnaia’s victory at Mugello. “It was difficult to do better,” he admitted, “Despite the fact that Pecco was not at 100 percent of his physical form he had a perfect weekend, I really find it hard to imagine doing better than that.

“In my opinion, since the middle of last year he has gained an incredible awareness and of his own abilities and most of the time he is able to use them very well,” he added. “Obviously he is not free from some mistakes because he is human, it’s there. What is surprising is that every time he manages to put a new piece to a kind of puzzle, a mosaic, he is constantly evolving. He is very good at adapting to different situations, managing the tires, he is surprising us so much.”

“Definitely this success will give him even more energy. With three races in a row, if you’re not physically good, you need a plus. From the other point of view, I am very pragmatic and say that the important thing will be to take points on Saturday and Sunday. Having said that, a weekend like this is really good for morale,” Gabarrini concluded.
