Jannik Sinner wins, but flies low: “I can still grow a lot.”
A victory greeted with words of great caution, although self-awareness is not lacking.
Jannik Sinner began the 2023 grass tennis season with a fine victory over Aleksandr Bublik in the ATP tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. For the Italian came a 6-4, 6-2 victory after a match whose beginning was marked by great balance. The same demonstrated by the South Tyrolean at the end of the day.
“Against him it’s never easy to play,” Sinner told the official ATP website about Bublik, “He can play all kinds of shots and he’s very good on serve, so a lot of attention was needed. I think I served well in the moments when it was important to do so. And this tournament is always special for me, since it’s where I won my first match on grass in 2019.”
Sinner then addressed what has changed between then and now. “I’m still young, but I’ve grown a lot. I have learned a lot and my position is very different, as well as grown a lot. However, I am aware of how much I can still grow, and in every match I try to play at my level, improve and go as far as I can,” said the San Candido outfielder.
