Camila Giorgi flops: bitter defeat in Nottingham
Nothing to do for Camila Giorgi vs. Mandlik
Bitter defeat for Camila Giorgi in the round of 16 of the WTA tournament in Nottingham. The Italian tennis player was defeated and eliminated in three sets by Elizabeth Mandlik of the United States, who won with the scores of 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
The Macerata player had cancelled a match point in the second set, and had managed to extend the challenge to the third set despite a very poor performance on serve: at the end of the match, there were as many as 20 double faults for the Marche player, who was very struggling with the second.
In the quarterfinals, Mandlik will face France’s Alize Corner, while Giorgi is expected to redeem herself next week when she takes part in the Birmingham tournament. Then she will rest a few days before the start of Wimbledon, the third Slam of the season.
