MotoGP: Marc Marquez confident for the weekend on “his” Sachsenring
Here are the words of Marc Marquez in the press conference on the eve of the three-day MotoGP-class German Grand Prix on a circuit, the Sachsenring, on which he has won the last eleven times he raced there: in 2010 in 125, in 2011 and 2012 in Moto2, in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 in MotoGP.
“I will race here with the usual positive mentality and I am curious to see how it can go, since on other tracks that suit my style, such as Austin or Termas de Rio Hondo, I could not race. I hope to aim for the podium even if we are in a difficult moment: last year I couldn’t push, now I can, but in Mugello I wasn’t risking, I had everything under control and I slipped because I went wide and lost the front of my Honda.”
“At Mugello we had a meeting with the top Honda management-it was not the first, but the most important for the people from Honda Motor involved. The feelings were positive, I saw a good attitude, but I want to see a reaction in the immediate future: in fact we need something more to fight for top positions also because the European manufacturers have raised the bar very high.”
“When I signed in 2020 the contract with Honda until 2024 I was aiming to win the championship, I couldn’t expect that I would break my arm, that I would have four operations, that the pandemic that hit Asia harder than Europe would come. It seems to me that since then Yamaha and Honda have been struggling more, or simply that the others have worked better.”
