Rudi Garcia is the new coach of Napoli

With a few lines on its official website, Napoli announced that the new coach is Rudi Garcia. Neither the length of the contract nor the amount of money is specified. Here is the text of the statement.

“Aurelio De Laurentiis is pleased to announce that Mr. Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli. To him the most sincere welcome and a big good luck.”

Rudi Garcia, a 59-year-old Frenchman, previously coached in Italy at Roma from 2013 to 2016, when he was relieved midway through the season to make way for Luciano Spalletti, the very coach he will replace on the bench of the Italian champions.

In his coaching career, he won Ligue 1 and the French Cup in 2010-2011 with Lille, the team from which Roma picked him up. With the Giallorossi he was second in the first two seasons, while in the third at the time of his exoneration he was fifth. His last experience on a bench, that of the Saudis of Al-Nassr, ended last April.
