The words of Sacha Modolo

Sacha Modolo on his Facebook profile had his say on the case that has broken out in recent days. “I read a lot of nastiness against the amateurs disqualified at the Giro Next who hung on the bikes and flagships during the Stelvio climb. Guys, we are talking precisely about Under23 no Professionals, many of them run knowing already that they will not pass prof, many run with the hope of passing knowing that however they do not have the qualities, many others run trying to figure out if it can be their job and many others run because they “have to.”

“Among those disqualified for sure there are all these categories I listed and those who were trying to figure out if it was their job be sure they realized it can’t be. For the others they just tried to start again the next day just to finish a Giro d’Italia. When I was an amateur (years when there was not this “crisis” of young Italians as now it is always written) it was normality to see people hanging in the grand tours, it was then up to the ds to choose whether to give a hand to the cyclists or make them understand immediately what cycling is all about, Ciano Rui of Zalf for example, left me alone in the middle of the road, now years later I can appreciate.”
