F1, Toto Wolff bluntly on Max Verstappen
Toto Wolff is blunt about Max Verstappen’s superiority
With the Austrian GP just days away, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was blunt about the progress made by the Brackley-based stable and the distance from Red Bull. “We are putting in a major upgrade ahead of Silverstone. We see a good increase in performance in the wind tunnel and we are understanding better what the car needs to be fast, as well as what the ideal set-up needs to be,” the Austrian manager began at the microphones of “Sky Sport Deutschland.”
Next, Toto Wolff addressed the distance of his own car from Red Bull: “In general, the steps are getting bigger and bigger. I think we are making good progress, but I think Max’s lead is still too big to think we can put pressure on him. In any case, we can solve the problem that is a mix between aerodynamics and the mechanical concept on which the car was based.”
