F1, Verstappen unleashed: after Senna, he targets Prost
Two-time World Champion is rewriting the record book
No one like Verstappen. In Canada, he claimed his 17th win in the last 26 GPs he has competed in, equaling Senna’s record for victories (41). Now in fifth place on the list of F1’s winningest drivers, Verstappen has put Prost, fourth at 51 total wins, in his sights.
It is impressive to think that Prost was making his F1 debut at age 25, which is Verstappen’s current age. Different eras but the Dutchman is really doing something monstrous when compared to all the greatest myths of the past. The feeling is that unless he gets tired of winning or an opponent worthy of him turns up, Hamilton’s record (103 wins) may also be in jeopardy.
Verstappen is now focused only on the next GP, in Austria, and on winning his third World Championship in a row. However, the idea of rewriting the Formula 1 record book particularly exhilarates him. At 25, with so many years of his career still ahead of him, Verstappen seems destined to become the record man.
