Andy Murray crushes poster with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
Andy Murray in an interview taken by the Evening Standard panned the promotional poster released by Wimbledon a week ago. In the design, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are in the foreground with other legends who have made Wimbledon history such as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, the Williams sisters, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in the background, as if to testify to the generational shift taking place.
But these legends did not include Murray, the only Briton capable of winning the men’s Wimbledon tournament since the post-war era. “It’s a disaster, isn’t it? I don’t need to say any more, it’s pretty obvious if you see the poster.”
“It’s kind of strange, I guess the players who are on the poster are the ones who have had incredible careers and have had incredible success at Wimbledon…. Alcaraz and Sinner are incredible players, but it seems strange to me that they were all behind the two of them…. Aren’t they in the poster? I don’t really care….”
