Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios forfeits
With just hours to go before the start, the WImbledon tournament loses a prized piece: Nick Kyrgios, a finalist at last year’s Championships, has forfeited due to physical problems.
It was announced by the Australian tennis player himself via a message posted on the London Slam’s social channels. “I am very sorry to have to leave Wimbledon. During my recovery, I had pain in my wrist in Mallorca. As it was suggested to me, I had tests that showed ligament rupture in the wrist. I have done everything to get back on the court and I am sorry to announce that I do not have enough time to recover. I will be back and as always thank you for your support,” the words of the 28-year-old from Canberra.
Kyrgios was supposed to make his debut against David Goffin: in his place will be Hungarian Fabian Maroszan to challenge the Belgian tennis player.
