Jannik Sinner, injury behind: “I feel good, I have recovered.”
Jannik Sinner’s words after his victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo
Debut with a smile for Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon. The Italian defeated Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-2 6-2 6-2) in three sets. “It means so much to me to play on such a special court, thanks to the crowd. I like so much to play here in London, I have great memories of last year, I played here and it’s very important to restart from here,” he said on Centre Court after the match.
The South Tyrolean tennis player seems to have put the injury that had stopped him in Halle behind him, “We have worked so hard to be in the position I am in. It’s bad to retire before a Slam, however now physically I feel very good, in the last few days I have recovered. Today the level was good, even against a left-handed opponent.”
“Happy with how I played, I hope to show good tennis in the next round as well,” he concluded ahead of the challenge against Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman.
