Team USA, coach Steve Kerr has his 12
No real stars but plenty of talent to get back to winning ways
Team USA’s last appearance at the Worlds (China, 2019) was a total failure with the U.S. team only seventh. Therefore, at the upcoming Worlds, scheduled for Aug. 25 to Sept. 15 in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia, the goal is to return to dominance by taking home the gold.
Coach Kerr has opted for a very talented team but lacking big NBA stars. These are the 12 Americans who will represent the United States at the upcoming World Cup:
Guards: Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Austin Reaves
Wings: Paul Banchero, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, Jaren Jackson Jr., Cam Johnson
Longs: Walker Kessler, Bobby Portis
Team USA’s training camp will begin next Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. The first pre-World Cup friendly with Puerto Rico is scheduled for Aug. 7. The debut in the rainbow event will be against New Zealand (Aug. 26).
