Tonino Zugarelli bluntly on the level of blue tennis

During an interview with the microphones of ‘Avvenire’, Tonino Zugarelli was blunt about the state of Italian tennis. “The moment is very favorable. Behind Sinner, Musetti, Sonego and Berrettini there are many guys with great prospects. In the coming years everything will be possible. After Djokovic I don’t see a possible absolute ruler. There will be a lot of balance, so even an Italian could return to win a slam and become the best in the world,” began the former Roman tennis player.

Later Tonino Zugarelli spoke about his feelings ahead of Wimbledon: “I think Djokovic is the favorite, but winning a Slam is always very difficult. It is physically and mentally wearing, especially for an athlete of his age. Winning four Slam events in the same year is a superhuman feat, but Nole is the only one in the modern age who has come so close.”

In conclusion, the 77-year-old tennis player wanted to send a message to Matteo Berrettini: “Matteo needs to stay calm, train hard and wait for the right opportunity to be reborn.”
