Wimbledon, bitter Friday for Lorenzo Musetti: eliminated

Lorenzo Musetti’s experience at Wimbledon ended in the third round: the Carrara-based tennis player was bowed out in three sets (7-6, 6-4, 6-4) by the more experienced Pole Hubert Hurkacz, definitely more at ease on London’s grass.

The Azzurro, who started as an underdog under the odds, succumbed 7-6 in the very balanced first set, paying for a drop right at the tie-break. Musetti played less fluent in the second set and conceded serve in the third game, while Hurkacz remained very solid at bat.

Same story in the last set, which ended 6-4 after an early break by the world number 18. Musetti said goodbye to London after just over two hours of play, while the Pole will face the winner of the match between Wawrinka and Djokovic in the fourth round.
