F1, Silverstone: Verstappen cannibal, Norris-Hamilton on the podium. Disappointment for Leclerc and Sainz
Max Verstappen also wins at Silverstone
The British Grand Prix, like the previous five GPs in this World Championship, saw Max Verstappen come first to the checkered flag. The Red Bull Dutchman finished the race ahead of an excellent Lando Norris (McLaren), who thrilled the home fans with a good battle in the early laps, and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), third at the finish.
Fourth was the other McLaren of Oscar Piastri, who finished ahead of George Russell’s Mercedes and Sergio Perez’s Red Bull. Seventh was Fernando Alonso, who equaled his worst result this season (that of the Spanish GP); eighth was a combative Alexander Albon, who was able to give Williams world points for the third time this season.
Sorrowful the Ferrari chapter: Charles Leclerc was unable to find the right feeling with the hard tires and, despite starting from fourth position, did not go beyond ninth place; Carlos Sainz, in turn, suffered in the last part of the race, slipping down to tenth position. Even the Safety car, which became essential on lap 34 due to the engine failure of Kevin Magnussen’s Haas, did not turn the tide in favor of the Rossa.
In the standings, therefore, Verstappen now seems unreachable, launched towards his third title in the top open-wheel series. Behind him the void: ten Grands Prix have not been useful in finding a rival to the championship dominator.
