Jakub Jankto returns to Italy, Abodi comments

“The club probably, in general, still some steps forward can make. As far as I am concerned he is first of all a person and secondly he is an athlete. I do not differentiate between characteristics that concern the sphere of personal choices. If I have to be equally honest I do not like, in general, ostentation, but individual choices should be respected as they are made and for what they are. I stop here.”

Andrea Abodi, minister for Sport and Youth, told 24 Mattino on Radio 24 about the return to Italy of Jakub Jankto, the Czech footballer who a few months ago came out publicly, becoming the first openly homosexual footballer at major levels.

Jankto, formerly of Ascoli, Udinese and Sampdoria, has put pen to paper with newly promoted Cagliari.
