Aprilia unleashed in America

The triumphant march of the Aprilia RS 660 in the Twins Cup of the prestigious U.S. Motoamerica championship continues: also at Laguna Seca, one of the most iconic circuits in the world, the Italian twin-cylinder proved unbeatable, winning a fantastic double that brings to 7 the number of victories so far this season, out of 10 races held.

Under the watchful eye of six-time world champion Max Biaggi, who was present in the Laguna Seca paddock, the RS 660s of the Rodio Racing – Powered by Robem Engineering team, entrusted to Rocco Landers and Gus Rodio, were the protagonists of a perfect weekend. Already in front of everyone in qualifying, with Landers scoring his fourth consecutive pole position and Rodio right behind him, the two teammates swept the board in Saturday’s race, monopolizing the top two positions and distancing the third place finisher – Dominic Doyle, on a Yamaha – by a whopping 21 seconds.

In Sunday’s race, too, the RS 660s were no match for each other: first Rodio, who got off to a better start, and then Landers, took the lead in the race, quickly stretching out the chasers. A slip by Landers on lap 11 handed the victory to Gus Rodio, who returned to the lead of the overall standings with 159 points, in which Rocco Landers is third at 141 and still fighting for the title.

The MotoAmerica Twins Cup will return to action after the summer break by moving to the East Coast, with the penultimate round scheduled for August 18-20 at the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania circuit.
