Knee stops Shapovalov: “I wasn’t even walking.”
Knee stops Shapovalov
As the curtain falls on his Wimbledon tournament Denis Shapovalov will be forced to take a break but would like to avoid knee surgery.
“At the end of the match with Safiullin, I was not even able to walk, let alone play,” said the dejected Canadian. “I had thought about skipping the whole clay season and most of the grass season, and only participating in Wimbledon, but then I felt better and played Roland Garros as well. I hope I don’t have to go under the knife because the recovery time would lengthen drastically.”
Shapovalov, 24 and a former world No. 10, expects to be out for a couple of months.
