Marc Marquez, Honda tester explodes: ‘I don’t develop the bike’
Tensions at Honda after the nightmarish first part of the World Championship for the Golden Wing team. The tester of the Japanese stable Stefan Bradl at the microphones of Speedweek launched a clear indictment of the Japanese manufacturer: “If I have the impression that certain innovations do not bring any benefit, they certainly do not go to the official team. Because if my comments are negative, we usually do not see chronometric progress.”
The German centaur wanted to clarify that his role is that of a tester, not a bike developer: “I have been working with HRC and Marc for five and a half years. So we know that if some component doesn’t make me faster, we don’t have to pass it on to Marc Marquez for evaluation. I don’t develop the bike, but I test the new parts that come in and they evaluate whether they improve the package or not. If the comment is positive they go to the official team, otherwise everything is sent back.”
“The term development rider is wrong. I am a test and reserve rider. Engineers are responsible for the development of racing bikes. They absorb my information and feedback, so they draw their own conclusions.”
