Tennis, Francesca Schiavone promotes new young blues
Roland Garros winner has great confidence in blue tennis
Guest of honor at the ATP Challenger Milan final, Francesca Schiavone, a legend of Italian tennis, spoke about the many young Italians who are coming into their own in challenger tournaments and beyond. A new generation of talent in the footsteps of the other young Italian phenom Sinner and Musetti.
“A new generation is coming. Mattia Gigante proved it by winning the final but also the various Flavio Cobolli and Luciano Darderi did very well. There is a very large and interesting base of young Italian tennis players. So, I think there will be a very joyful present and future for our movement. I would say we are well placed,” his words on the sidelines of the final between Gigante and Facundo Acosta (won by the Argentine).
The 2010 Roland Garros winner complimented the 21-year-old Roman Gigante, who came within a step of winning the Milan tournament: “He had a great tournament, he showed that he has important strokes.”
